This was the worst check-in experiences we’ve had. We told the host we would arrive around 11:45 PM and did arrive before midnight, which is documented in texts with the assistant. Because no instructions were provided, we waited in the hotel check in line assuming that was correct. The person sent to assist us did not identify himself and only approached us after midnight to say we now owed an $80 late fee instead of the $25 fee that applied before midnight—even though we had already been there waiting. It felt intentionally timed (it was 12:01 when he approached). We then spent over 45 minutes trying to resolve it while the property manager ignored our calls and the host dismissed our explanation despite the message record. The assistant also asked for the fee in cash, which felt questionable. There was also loud nearby construction and the room had an undisclosed connecting door to another unit. Due to the lack of transparency and poor communication, we would not stay here again.
